Blizzard confirms big plans for Diablo 4 Season 1 and beyond

The first "campfire chat" for Diablo 4 went quite well as Blizzard Entertainment revealed exciting news about what's in store for the game.

Much like how most Diablo 4 players will leave no stone unturned, literally, in their search for newer and rarer gear, Blizzard Entertainment wants fans to know that it's doing everything in its power to support Diablo 4 post-launch.

After starting things off on the right foot, Diablo 4 is trying to do the right things to maintain the momentum of Diablo 4.

Blizzard had its first "Campfire Chat" about Diablo 4 on June 16, Friday. This isn't an official developer stream, but more of a, well, chat of what's possibly coming to the game and what the developers are planning to add.

Even though this was less of a big deal, Blizzard still took its time revealing several new additions and quality-of-life changes that are coming to Diablo 4 in the lead-up to its first season and once it arrives as well as after it.

In Diablo 4, the journey is as crucial as the destination, and the current, laborious travel to the Nightmare dungeons has not gone unnoticed. To bolster the appeal of these endgame areas, Blizzard has announced it will tweak the mechanics of the Nightmare Sigils, allowing them to create waypoints, enabling players to directly teleport to the respective dungeons. This change will eliminate the extra effort of manual running, saving crucial time and making the Nightmare dungeons more efficient to farm.

The tweaks are set to roll out in anticipation of the game's first season, scheduled for a mid- to late-July launch. Alongside these enhancements, there will be some account-wide changes, specifically the map and Altar of Lilith progress. Players will no longer need to uncover the map and unlock Altars of Lilith for each new character. Once a character has made these accomplishments, all future characters will automatically have the associated Renown.

Yet, Blizzard's commitment to improving the player experience doesn't end here. The game's resistances, a stat high-level players have criticized for its underperformance, will be receiving a major buff. As per the player feedback, gems, which currently occupy precious inventory space, will be treated like currency in the upcoming seasons.

At this rate, Diablo 4 will likely be the most successful entertainment product by Blizzard of all time.

Speaking of seasons, Blizzard is planning on releasing new seasons for Diablo IV every three months, each brimming with fresh gameplay features and a seasonal questline.

If nothing else, this does suggest that those who prefer to play Diablo 4 for the campaign and mostly single-player content will have something to look forward to every quarter or so.

With at least two expansions coming to Diablo 4 already within the next year or so, the game, which is already the fastest-selling game in the company's history, has a fair shot at setting new records sooner rather than later.

We're curious to find out what kind of expansions are coming to Diablo 4.

In other news, a Bungie dev just found out the hard way that you shouldn't just carelessly criticize Diablo 4.

  1. The Canadian fires turning the skies of NYC orange did more for this game than people realize LOL I’ll be waiting for the start of the season. I hope this keeps the game active and appealing!

  2. Blizzard has a lot riding on this game at this point. They messed up most of their other franchises.
