Hogwarts Legacy sales exceeded Warner Bros.'s expectations

Arien Darby, a senior brand and marketing manager at WB Games, confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy was a lot bigger than initially thought.

According to Warner Bros. Senior Global Brand Manager, Arien Darby, Warner Bros. Discovery's Hogwarts Legacy is akin to Harry Potter catching the golden snitch - it's the baseball equivalent of a homerun.

Hogwarts Legacy is just the start of a resurgence in the popularity of the Wizarding World franchise.

As spotted by @bogorad22 on Twitter, Hogwarts Legacy "achieved 256% to plan sell-thru at launch" as he listed everything that the game did at launch, including securing nearly a billion in revenue in two weeks, among others.

What makes Hogwarts Legacy's success particularly interesting is that it's not even out on all consoles yet.

Given that Hogwarts Legacy is still coming to the PS4 and Xbox One as well as the Nintendo Switch, the sales figures of the game should improve more.

We'll likely get a chance to hear more about how the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy will affect the sales numbers on May 8 at the company's annual stockholders' meeting.

Hogwarts Legacy is bound to get a sequel and we can only hope that it's better than the first one.

Hogwarts Legacy was originally scheduled to release on the PS4 and Xbox One in April but the studio delayed the last-gen console version for further polishing. It's unclear when the Switch version of the game will be out.

Fans are keeping an eye out for Avalanche Software to finish porting Hogwarts Legacy to all the supported platforms so it can focus on the "unplanned" DLC.

Speaking of the Wizarding World franchise, HBO is rebooting the Harry Potter film franchise in TV form with J.K. Rowling in tow.
