Hogwarts Legacy soars to the top of UK sales charts

Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world Harry Potter RPG, has topped the UK sales charts after its launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

Hogwarts Legacy just can't stop itself from selling well as it now sits atop the sales charts in the United Kingdom again.

Hogwarts Legacy is now a franchise in the eyes of Warner Bros. Discovery, presumably separate from the Wizarding World.

Fresh off its release on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, Hogwarts Legacy has overtaken Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was previously the best-selling game in the region despite performance issues, as per GamesIndustry.biz.

Hogwarts Legacy has seen a huge jump in sales since becoming available on the PS4 and Xbox One, guaranteeing that it's going to blow past the 20-million mark before the year ends.

Hogwarts Legacy sold 12 million units in two weeks in February before reaching the 15 million mark by March 31. Over a month has passed since, so don't be surprised if Warner Bros. Discovery reveals another massive sales milestone in its next earnings call.

Hogwarts Legacy's success proves that the Wizarding World franchise remains just as popular today in spite of the recent controversies.

The Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy is expected to boost the sales numbers by a considerable amount as well.

More importantly, Hogwarts Legacy proves it's better to delay a game than to launch it in a bad state. Most companies will stick to deadlines even if a game isn't complete like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the game is selling well, things could've easily gone the other way. On the other hand, Hogwarts Legacy was first scheduled to come out in 2021 before multiple delays. Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Discovery have since announced separate release dates for Hogwarts Legacy on the PS4 and Xbox One as well as the Nintendo Switch.

The initial delay to Hogwarts Legacy was disappointing, to say the least. The Harry Potter game is now seeing strong sales numbers because of the initial decision. Now, it's expected to do well on the Nintendo Switch on July 25.

Warner Bros. Discovery has several big video games coming out soon, including Mortal Kombat 12, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The fear is now for Warner Bros. Discovery to cash in and release new Hogwarts Legacy games sooner than they're supposed to.

Fingers crossed, a DLC is finally on the pipeline for Avalanche Software if only to give the young wizards and witches a new reason to stick around for the long term.
