With the release of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves live action movie and references in shows like Stranger Things, the presence of D&D in the mainstream is at an all-time high. And with that kind of free marketing comes tie-in opportunities. Aside from recent Secret Lair crossovers with Magic: The Gathering, one of the recent third-party tabletop roleplaying related merchandise comes from the fast food chain Arby’s, which offers limited edition Dungeons & Dragons dice sets.

However, after the announcement of its availability, the D&D dice sets quickly sold out.

On April 17, Arby’s made the announcement of the availability of the D&D dice on its home page and through social media such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

The set includes the familiar polyhedral dice used in playing D&D: one each of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, a percentile die, and a d20. Moreover, these special D&D dice are made of transparent plastic with the famous Arby’s hat inside each one. The limited edition Dungeons & Dragons dice could be ordered on Arby’s online shop for just $12.00. But within a matter of hours, all the stocks had been sold out.

This is not the first time that Arby’s offered a limited edition set of D&D dice. In August 2021, the first set of these special dice were offered. And just like the new batch, those dice sets also sold out fast. But some enterprising individuals who managed to snag them took the opportunity to sell them on Amazon and eBay for hundreds of dollars.

Created in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, Dungeons & Dragons has become synonymous to the tabletop roleplaying hobby. A huge part of the game is the element of chance presented by rolling the dice to determine the outcome of certain actions.

For example, during a gameplay session of D&D, dice will be rolled for determining the success of abilities or skill checks, attacking enemies, finding the amount of damage weapons and magic spells deal, and checking for survival with death saves. Plus, collecting personalized sets of dice has become a hobby-within-the-hobby for many D&D enthusiasts. Despite the controversy from the Open Gaming License changes proposed to monetize the brand, Dungeons & Dragons remains the most popular tabletop roleplaying game in the world.

With the new set of Arby’s Dungeons & Dragons dice already out of stock, will fans have to wait another couple of years or pay ridiculous prices to get them? Well, there is some good news. Arby’s is restocking them for one more day. The limited set of D&D dice will be available 11am ET on Friday, April 21, 2023 at ArbysShop.com. Each order can only have a maximum of 2 sets of these limited D&D dice.

Produced by Hasbro (through eOne Entertainment) and Paramount Pictures, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is currently showing in cinemas worldwide.
