Netflix has two new mobile games on the way

Netflix is boosting its little-known and seldom-played mobile game catalog with two brand new titles on the way.

Netflix is not satisfied with dominating the movie streaming space. One of the world’s biggest streaming companies, the company is now turning its attention to the gaming industry. A big proof of this is its recent poaching of Joseph Staten, a former Xbox Game Studios executive, who many will remember for his work on the Halo series and the Destiny franchise.

LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unlocked is one of two new titles announced by Netflix.

On Tuesday, Netflix revealed it will soon release two mobile games on its platform. The first of these games is the strategy game titled LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed. If you are a mobile gamer, you should have heard of the title since it was published by Gameloft in 2020 and had positive reviews.

The other game is the puzzle adventure title called Paper Trail which will be published sometime this year by Newfangled Games.

If you are wondering what LEGO Legacy: Heroes Unboxed is like, the name provides a clue. Inspired by the popular LEGO toys, it is a game where you will collect different LEGO minifigures, both modern and classic, build different sets like you would with the toys, and go on quests and adventures.

At the moment, the game calls Facebook Gaming home and is no longer available on any other platform, including the Google PlayStore and App Store. However, even that arrangement is temporary as it will cease to be available on that platform too by the end of this year. At that time, only Netflix subscribers will have access to it and be able to enjoy it.

In the second game, Paper Trail, you will be required to solve puzzles to help the main character on her first journey away from her home. Even though Paper Trail mobile will be exclusive to Netflix subscribers, the game will also release on other major platforms – Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Series X, and PC.

The Queen's Gambit: Chess is one of three games that will arrive on Netflix this summer.

Netflix also told us the release dates of two other games that will have fans salivating.

The first game is Cut the Rope Daily, which is Netflix’s take on the popular puzzle game series that debuted in 2010. Unlike the other games in the series, Cut the Rope Daily will give players access to only one puzzle every day instead of everything at once. Netflix made it known that it will arrive on August 1.

The second game is a Netflix original game titled The Queen’s Gambit: Chess. It was announced last year and will make its debut on July 25. The game is inspired by Netflix’s 2020 historical drama hit The Queen’s Gambit which starred Anya Taylor-Joy.

Both of these new titles will be available only to Netflix subscribers and nobody else.

We believe these titles are some of the 40 titles that the streamer promised subscribers this year.

By the way, Netflix is organizing a real-life Squid Game based on its Korean hit of the same name. Last month, the company announced that the 10-episode reality series will feature 455 contestants who will jostle against each other for the prize money of $4.56 million. The show will arrive in November.
