When it comes to engaging with fans, The LEGO Group reigns supreme. Not only does it produce exceptional toys renowned worldwide, but it also actively encourages its fans to contribute ideas for future LEGO sets. As a result of this initiative, Jaws will join the Danish toy manufacturer's long list of licensed IP products.
Bruce, the infamous Great White Shark that instilled fear in the inhabitants of Amity Island, is set to make his debut as a LEGO set. This fascinating set will include the Orca fishing boat and meticulously crafted minifigures representing the three central characters from the 1975 thriller, Jaws: police chief Martin Brody, marine biologist Matt Hooper, and the seasoned shark hunter, Quint.
Designed by LEGO enthusiast Jonny Campbell (Diving Faces), the Orca boat in this set showcases an impressive level of detail reminiscent of its on-screen counterpart. This intricately crafted model features realistic elements such as wires connected to the mast, as well as an array of shark hunting and fishing equipment neatly arranged in the boat's interior.
The set also includes the iconic yellow barrels used to tag the formidable killer shark. What's even more remarkable is that the design accurately depicts the scale of the shark in relation to the Orca, perfectly capturing its massive jaws.
While LEGO redesigns approved fan submissions to fit the stringent rules and guidelines the company has for all its products, focusing on build experience and stability, the fan design that we see now should be a pretty good indication of what to expect from the contents of the final set.
As of writing, no specific price or release date has been announced for the LEGO set. However, we can anticipate its arrival in stores sometime later than other eagerly awaited LEGO sets, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, and Dungeons & Dragons, which were approved in previous Ideas review rounds.
