More system stability improvements for the PS5 in the latest firmware update

The June update delivers the usual improvements to system performance and stability.

Sony has introduced yet another system update for the PlayStation 5, bearing striking similarities to the previous update that was launched back in April.

Weighing in at just over 1GB, the latest system software version 23.01-07.40.00 brings forth only two notable changes:

  • We've improved system software performance and stability.
  • We've improved the messages and usability on some screens.

While players may not notice anything significant to their consoles after downloading the update, they will undoubtedly appreciate any improvements in system software performance that have been implemented. The last significant update for the PS5 was released in March, introducing the long-awaited Discord voice chat feature, which was only available to Xbox players.

Furthermore, the March update brought along several valuable accessibility and ease-of-use features. These included simplifying the process of data migration between PS5 consoles by using a Wi-Fi or LAN connection, as well as enabling players to update their DualSense Wireless controller device software with a wireless connection.

The handheld Project Q console was announced at the recent PlayStation Showcase.

Speaking of PlayStation, there have been claims suggesting that Sony is preparing to hold another PlayStation Showcase later this year. Although Sony has not confirmed any such plans at this point, it wouldn't be surprising given the somewhat underwhelming reception of last month's showcase.

I'm just your average Joe Schmo with a love for films and a knack for writing. I can tell you all about the latest blockbusters and indie flicks, but I'll also sneak in some obscure references and dad jokes that will make you groan and roll your eyes. My reviews are like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get, but you'll probably want more. Link up with Caleb on Steam.
