Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS launching this year

Bandai Namco claims the fighting game is a "unique game experience that combines key gameplay moments from the series."

The most unpredictable shinobi in all of Konoha is looking to make a tailed beast bomb-sized splash in his long-awaited return to the PCs and consoles with the release of Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS at a still-unconfirmed date later this year.

Bandai Namco claims that the game will combine Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry into one.

The upcoming new installment in Bandai Namco's long-running fighting game anime franchise was officially revealed at a recent State of Play showcase, much to the surprise of unexpectant fans. The best part is that the new project is coming out later this year with pre-orders already available, which is the closest thing to a sure release outside of the game going gold.

Unfortunately, the pre-order bonuses for Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS weren't revealed yet, but they will be in due time.

For now, we'll just have to "settle" with the details about what the fifth Ultimate Ninja Storm game will bring to the table after being leaked late last year.

Ahsura and Indra was an anime-only addition to Naruto until now.

Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS isn't just a sequel to Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, which came out in 2016. It combined all four previous games in one bundle, remixing already-existing content on top of adding new stuff that took place following the end of the Fourth Ninja World War and what's going on over at Konoha ever since Boruto took over the spotlight from his dad.

Oh, you'll get to play as Ashura and Indra Ohtsosuki as well and we spotted Momoshiki as well as Kinshiki.

In total, Ultimate Ninja Storm CONNECTIONS will have 124 playable characters and will likely revise hand-picked scenes all the way from the start of the original tetralogy in 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and the PC.

We're definitely hoping to see Jigen and the rest of Kara appear in the game as part of a post-launch DLC.

Unfortunately, there isn't quite enough content in Boruto to warrant a full Ultimate Ninja Storm 5 sequel, so fans will just have to make do with this. But, we're hoping that Bandai Namco will at least consider bringing the likes of Jigen into the mix even though stretching the story that far will force gamers to relive one of the saddest deaths in anime history.
