Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One gets a new teaser video

The newest trailer highlights the aerial, desert, and underwater action coming to the seventh installment of the Mission Impossible series.

Paramount Pictures just dropped a new trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The new teaser shows off some of the action set pieces in the upcoming spy thriller that ramps the stakes even higher for Tom Cruise's popular character Ethan Hunt.

Dead Reckoning Part One is coming to theaters next month.

Ever since the first teaser for what is billed as the penultimate Mission: Impossible movie dropped, audiences expect Tom Cruise and the rest of the ensemble cast is going out with a bang. Cruise set the tone for the upcoming film by jumping off the side of a cliff on a motorcycle.

The new movie trailer for Dead Reckoning Part One tease Ethan Hunt’s most dangerous mission ever (again). There are a lot of chase scenes in the trailer with Hunt riding a motorcycle through a forest, driving through the streets of Rome, and even on horseback across desert dunes. And there are also shots of Hunt constantly running on foot from one place to another.

The action-packed sequences include a fight scene on top of a train where our protagonist narrowly avoids getting squashed by the tunnel entrance. We will also be getting an underwater submarine battle for Dead Reckoning Part One. Also, more running - Cruise sure likes proving he can still run.

Cruise, known to perform his own stunts, released a short featurette on the biggest stunt in the film which involves driving a motorcycle off a cliff which was shot on the first day of filming. The actor also released a video message thanking fans for the success of Top Gun: Maverick while freefalling from a helicopter.

While everything seems set for the premiere of Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One next month, Cruise is reportedly not happy with its release date. A new report suggests that the actor isn’t happy that the upcoming movie will only be on IMAX for less than two weeks. Universal Pictures has secured a deal with IMAX for every screen in North America when the film releases on July 21st.

"Tom Cruise is like, I am only getting one week in premium format theatres, that’s gonna affect the box office and this is the guy who brought everyone back to the cinemas," Film critic Jeff Snieder said on a recent The Hot Mic podcast.

"I don’t know how long Nolan has that IMAX engagement locked up for. Well, what you could technically see is Mission: Impossible return to theatres in IMAX after the Oppenheimer run. If it’s a three-week or four-week contractual run, you could see it in week five, which is six weeks after the release of Mission: Impossible."

Dead Reckoning Part One will only have less than two weeks on IMAX.

Dead Reckoning Part One was initially set to release on July 14th but Paramount moved it two days earlier to get more IMAX screen time. Snieder adds that Paramount should have released the upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel on the Fourth of July weekend to give it enough time on IMAX.

We will find out next month whether the conflicting IMAX schedules would affect the performance of Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One. Our guess is that audiences will still turn up in huge numbers even if the movie has a short run in IMAX theaters. The recent performance of Fast X indicates that audiences are keen to see how major movie franchises end.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One is coming to theaters worldwide on July 12, 2023.
