Chris Hemsworth wants Thor 5 to be "unpredictable"

The longtime Marvel star discussed the possibility of a fifth installment for the God of Thunder.

Chris Hemsworth has always been vocal about his desire to end the Thor film series on a high note. The actor has said that he would be returning as the God of Thunder only if that is what fans want to see, and that any hypothetical fifth Thor film should go beyond the expected.

Hemsworth talks about reinventing Thor once more.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly for the release of Extraction 2, Hemsworth revealed that he has had conversations about returning for Thor 5. However, nothing is set in stone at this point. The actor adds that he will definitely return once again with the right script.

"I've got to be careful how I word that because I have no idea what's happening in the next phase," Hemsworth said. "There's always conversations, like with Extraction. Before anything is official, people are throwing around ideas. But officially, I don't know."

Thor has undergone a major shift from Thor: The Dark World to Thor: Ragnarok. The tone of the movies has started to lean more towards the humorous side of Thor rather than the dark and brooding God who yearns for war. Director Taika Waititi can be credited with the lighter, laidback version of the character appearing on-screen.

Hemsworth cringes at the thought of making Thor: Love and Thunder.

However, Hemsworth has previously said that he had "too much fun" making Thor: Love and Thunder." The actor said the movie was too silly and looking back, he cringes at the thought of Thor 4, which seems to broadly match the reactions of most fans, too.

Having a fifth solo outing will be a first for the MCU. No other Marvel star has had more than three solo films. As commercially successful as his films have been, Hemsworth is still wary of overstaying his welcome.

"I don't want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character," Hemsworth explains. "If an audience wants to see it, and if there's something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great. I've loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don't have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable."

Hemsworth wants Thor 5 to be unpredictable.

Marvel has not yet announced plans for a new Thor movie. However, we are likely to see the God of Thunder participate in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. The movies are still a couple of years away from premiering as there have been several scheduling changes for the franchise.

In the meantime, Hemsworth is focused on the release of Extraction 2. The sequel to the popular Netflix action movie is now available for streaming.

  1. Maybe it is just me but the Thor films fell off in a big way. Hemsworth is clearly invested in the role though so here is to hoping 5 does better than 4 did!
