Star Wars Outlaws will be released exclusively on Ubisoft Connect for PC

Surprisingly enough, the upcoming open-world Star Wars game will not be coming to Steam and Epic Games Store.

Ubisoft is making some of its upcoming games exclusive to its own storefront. After recently releasing its best-selling titles on Steam, the publisher has decided not to release Star Wars Outlaws on third-party storefronts.

It looks like Star Wars Outlaws will be a timed exclusive on Ubisoft Connect.

Star Wars Outlaws is one of the highly anticipated titles being developed at Ubisoft. However, it looks like the game will not make it to Steam or Epic Games when it releases.

According to a new report by The Gamer, Ubisoft Connect is the only platform being advertised on the official Star Wars Outlaws page. It means that PC players will be limited to just one digital storefront for the upcoming open-world Star Wars game.

However, things may change down the line and Ubisoft may release it on other platforms like Steam or Epic Games Store. Ubisoft games have been on the Epic Games Store for several years now while some titles like The Division 2, Far Cry 6 as well as Riders Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction have been recently released on Steam. Ubisoft may just be releasing Star Wars Outlaws as a timed exclusive on Ubisoft Connect.

The upcoming open-world Star Wars game isn't likely coming to Steam or Epic Games Store anytime soon.

Every modern Ubisoft game released on third-party storefronts needs to be linked to a Ubisoft Connect account to be playable. This has been the standard for several years now since the days of Uplay. EA also employs a similar strategy with its Origin and EA Play accounts but has released games on Steam on Day 1.

One big question is whether the game will be playable on the Steam Deck when comes out. There will be workarounds to get the game running on the Steam Deck but some players will be disappointed that the game will not be directly available on Valve’s handheld PC.

Ubisoft recently revealed the gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws at the Xbox Games Showcase. The game will be set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Massive Entertainment revealed that each planet has a map size bigger than The Division 2's Washington.

Players will take control of an outlaw named Kay Vess as she tries to pull off one of the biggest heists in the Outer Rim. The game will be played in a fully open-world setting. According to developer Massive Entertainment, every single planet found in the upcoming Star Wars game will be bigger than the entire map of The Division 2. However, it is still not clear how many planets will be featured in Star Wars Outlaw.

Game director Mathias Karlson also shared that players can customize spaceships, speeder bikes, and blaster pistols.

Star Wars Outlaws is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 in 2024.
