Arkham trilogy is coming to Nintendo Switch this fall

The collection of Rocksteady's Batman games has been announced at the just concluded Nintendo Direct event.

The Batman: Arkham trilogy has been regarded as one of the best superhero games ever. And, while its sequel isn't set to come out until next year, the original trilogy is headed to another platform to tide audiences over in the meantime.

The definitive edition will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo announced that the Batman: Arkham trilogy is coming to the Switch during its most recent Nintendo Direct live stream where, among other things, we found out about Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Better yet, the entire trilogy of games is coming to the hybrid console later this fall.

Rocksteady released a brand new gameplay trailer revealing that the definitive edition of the Arkham series will launch exclusively on the Switch. The new version will include all the post-launch content as one complete collection which means Switch owners do not need to purchase the DLCs separately.

The Switch port of the trilogy was developed by the independent studio Turn Me Up Games. The LA-based studio is best known for working on the Switch ports of It Takes Two, Borderlands: Legendary Collection, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.

The Arkham trilogy has been regarded as three of the best games ever made.

Arkham Asylum is the first game in the trilogy and was released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2009. The game was later ported to the PS4 and PC. The game held the Guinness World Record for "Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game Ever."

Arkham City was released two years later after the success of the first game. Like its predecessor, the game was critically-acclaimed and regarded as one of the greatest games ever made.

Arkham Knight was released in 2015 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game was considered an improvement over its predecessors and praised for its visuals, combat, and open-world design. The game went on to receive several accolades including Best Game and Best Action-Adventure Game. The game was also the fastest-selling game of the year, shipping over 5 million units.

The Arkham series is presented in third-person perspective and features an open-world Gotham City. The Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and The Riddler are just some of the villains featured in the series.

Batman: Arkham Knight shipped over 5 million units in its first year.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is considered to be the successor of the Arkham series and will be the first game not to feature Batman. The game has been delayed several times with Rocksteady announcing in April that the upcoming title will launch on February 2, 2024.
