Triple H unveils new WWE World Heavyweight Championship Belt

The new World Heavyweight title is the first time that WWE has introduced a new World Championship since 2016.

The April 24 Monday Night RAW episode shocked wrestling fans around the world, leaving them buzzing with excitement. In what's considered a historically significant move, the WWE Head of Creative, Paul "Triple H" Levesque, took center stage to unveil a brand new World Heavyweight Championship belt.

The World Heavyweight Championship belt will go to the brand opposite of the one that drafts Roman Reigns.

According to the King of Kings, the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned on May 27 in Saudi Arabia at the Night of Champions.

It's fitting that Triple H makes the announcement. In addition to his new executive role within the WWE, Triple H was closely associated with the World Heavyweight Championship before the WWE retired the belt in 2013.

Triple H's announcement marks the first time since 2016 that WWE has introduced a new World Championship for the main men's roster. Fans are eager to find out what this new title can bring to the table.

The new World Heavyweight Championship will become the top title on the opposite brand that will draft Roman Reigns. This move guarantees that the WWE will always have a "fighting champion" on both brands following the upcoming WWE Draft.

Reigns has held the Universal championship since August 2020, and his historical reign is approaching one thousand days. This reveal effectively confirms that the WWE plans on giving Reigns the chance to surpass the said milestone if not more. As Reigns' hold at the top spot in the WWE grows, he's inching closer to the third-longest title reign by Pedro Morales at 1,027 days, which is just under 3 years.

The introduction of the World Heavyweight Championship belt to the WWE implies that it doesn't intend to split the Unified title belts anytime soon.

It remains unclear if the WWE is planning on making Reigns a champion long enough to threaten the 2,135-day record of Bob Backlund or the 2,803-day record of Bruno Sammartino.

As previously mentioned, the WWE will award the new World Heavyweight title to the winner of the main event for Night of Championships in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on May 27.

As audiences look ahead to Night of Champions, the anticipation and excitement among WWE fans is immeasurable. Who will compete for the new World Heavyweight Championship? Is the WWE going to pivot and give it to Cody Rhodes, who's had a public affinity for the Wingled Eagle title belt? Or is it a way to bring the likes of Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins back into the title belt conversation without detracting from the storyline of The American Nightmare and The Tribal Chibal Chief?

We're curious to see if the WWE has similar plans for the Unified Tag Team title belts.

These are just some of the questions that WWE will answer in a month. For now, WWE fans can look forward to the WWE draft on April 28 and May 1 followed by WWE Backlash, which will be headlined by Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar, on May 6.
