Activision announces a free multiplayer access week for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

If you're still unsure about purchasing the game, a free trial three seasons into the game might help you decide.

Activision has announced a seven-day multiplayer trial across all platforms for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The trial will start on April 19 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 5 PM GMT and end next Wednesday, April 26, 2023. During the trial period, players will have access to a limited selection of multiplayer game modes, including the fan-favorite Gunfight mode.

Players can expect to play over ten multiplayer maps and twelve game modes, including 6v6 modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Grind, Gun Game, Infected, One in the Chamber, and All or Nothing, on iconic 6v6 maps like Farm 18, Shoot House, Shipment, and newly released Dome, Himmelmat Expo, and Pelayo's Lighthouse.

The Gunfight mode will also feature maps specifically made for a 2v2 game mode, such as Alley, Blacksite, Exhibit, and Shipment.

However, if Gunfight is not your cup of tea, you can also go on a larger-scale battle in game modes such as Ground War and Invasion on the Santa Seña map.

The player count is likely going to sky rocket from April 19 to April 26.

The Call of Duty franchise has been a mainstay in the gaming industry for years, and Modern Warfare 2 is no exception. The game was released in 2022 and was well-received by both fans and critics. However, the franchise has faced some criticism in recent years for its lack of innovation and reliance on annual releases.

The multiplayer trial could be seen as an attempt by Activision to revive interest in the franchise and address these criticisms. By offering players a chance to experience the game for free, Activision may be hoping to attract new players and retain existing ones.

Additionally, the trial could be a way to generate buzz and anticipation for future Call of Duty releases.
